Rebecca gets punished because of some silliness by Ernest and has to take home a note from the headmistress for Mom to sign. To help her out, Ernest offers to forge Mom\'s signature. After some hesitation, Rebecca agrees. Mrs. Macdow is fooled, but she does notice that Rebecca talks a lot to her school bag (Ernest). Carried away by their success, Ernest and Rebecca learn that a Cap\'n V event is taking place on a school day and they decide to write another note as if from Mom so that Rebecca can get off school. But Mrs. Macdow gets suspicious and intends to speak to Mom personally. Rebecca now has to prevent Mom from discovering the truth and also get Mrs. Macdow out of her house.
